Modern Heritage Fusion

Nestled in the heart of Sliema, just steps away from the picturesque Balluta Bay, this 18th-century townhouse has undergone a complete transformation. From full demolition to the final styling touches, we meticulously restored and redesigned this unique home, preserving its historic charm while integrating modern functionality.

With its rich traditional features, the layout presented limitations, requiring a thoughtful approach to furniture placement and storage solutions. Upon entering, you are immediately welcomed by a striking fireplace wall adorned with a marble slab—a true focal point of the open-plan living space. We carefully curated a natural yet distinctive color palette, ensuring each area has its own unique identity while maintaining a cohesive flow throughout the home.

The open-plan living area embraces a soft combination of white and olive tones, complemented by natural marble and wood-effect tiles. Given the compact space, we utilized mirrors extensively—integrating them into storage doors to create a seamless illusion of spaciousness. This approach not only enhances the visual appeal but also maximizes light reflection, making the interiors feel significantly larger.

Honoring the townhouse’s heritage was a key priority. We incorporated classic elements such as paneling, library shelves, antique art pieces, and wall sconces, carefully balancing them with contemporary features like a sleek modern fireplace and contemporary furnishings.

As you move through the living space, a corridor leads to the kitchen, which opens onto an internal yard. Designed in a serene palette of light gray and turquoise blue—our client’s favorite—the kitchen exudes warmth and elegance. Glass-fronted upper cabinets add a sense of lightness, making storage feel visually inviting. It’s the perfect space for a tranquil morning coffee.

The second bedroom, designed for the client’s teenage son, features a bold forest green palette paired with a tan leather headboard, creating a stylish yet inviting retreat.

This project beautifully bridges the past and present, honoring the home’s historical essence while reimagining it for contemporary living.
